FRIDAY
A Night Under the Mountain
You’ve arrived. The bags are down, the mountains are calling and for the next two nights, you’re surrounded by people who are every bit as obsessed with these worlds as you are!
We’ll gather in The Tavern, our home for the weekend, and kick things off with fresh stone baked pizza, themed drinks and plenty of time to meet your new Inner Circle.
Then it’s time to find out just how much all those hours spent in fictional worlds have actually taught you…
The Trials Of Prythian
Our Trials of Prythian quiz will put your Romantasy knowledge to the test – from the things everyone remembers to those completely insignificant details that have somehow taken up permanent residence in your brain!
There’ll be prizes, bragging rights and probably at least one “I KNOW THIS!” moment when your mind goes completely blank.
Think themed cocktails and mock tails, fantasy music, firelight, mountain views and an evening with nowhere else you need to be.

A Day In Velaris
The Rise Of The Valkyries
Being a Valkyrie was never just about being strong. It was about friendship. Trust. Encouraging the person beside you and discovering that you’re capable of far more when you don’t have to do it alone.
And that’s exactly how we’re doing it.
You’ll train like a Valkyrie and test yourself through a morning of fantasy-inspired challenges – think bows and arrows, swords, strength and skill, with a little friendly competition thrown in ⚔️
You don’t need to be fit. You don’t need any experience. And you definitely don’t need to be good at any of it!
Because there’s only one rule that really matters…
No Valkyrie qualifies alone. ⚔️
Complete your training together, earn your ribbon and take your place amongst the Valkyries.
Come as strangers. Train as Valkyries. Leave as friends.
The Inner Circle
After a morning of adventure, it’s time to slow things down with an afternoon dedicated to books, creativity and finding your people.
Grab a coffee and some cake and settle in for a couple of hours of bookish creativity, fantasy-inspired makes, recommendations and plenty of Romantasy chat with people who actually want to hear your theories.
And while we create, we’ll Spill the Suriel Tea… 👀
Favourite characters. Book boyfriends. Plot twists. Unpopular opinions. Red flags we’re choosing to ignore. Emotional damage. And all those completely unhinged theories you’ve been dying to discuss with people who actually get it. 😂
Our book expert from The Berwyn Bookshop will be joining us too, with recommendations and a hand-picked collection of fantasy and Romantasy books to browse.

As evening falls over the mountains, there’s still a little more magic to come…
Grab a drink and pick up a paintbrush for a two-hour, fully guided fantasy painting experience, created especially for our Romantasy weekend.
Think magical skies, mountains, starlight and a little piece of another world that you’ll get to take home with you. ✨
No artistic experience needed and absolutely no pressure to create a masterpiece! This one is about switching off, having fun, laughing with the people around you and seeing what happens when you put paintbrush to canvas.
And once the paintbrushes are down…
The High Fae's Feast
You’ve trained. You’ve created. You’ve painted.
You’ve earned a feast!
We’ll gather together for a themed BBQ feast before settling in for our final night in The Tavern.
Think themed cocktails and mocktails, fantasy music, festoon lighting, plenty more time for books, laughter and all those conversations we still haven’t finished.

One Last Chapter
Nobody likes reaching the end of a really good story…
We’ll start our final morning together slowly, with coffee, books, recommendations and one last chance to add far too many new reads to your TBR.
There may also be a few final predictions, theories and prophecies to leave behind before our story comes to an end… 👀
But we’re not saying goodbye just yet.
Beyond The Wall
For our final adventure together, we’ll head into medieval Conwy – with its castle, ancient walls, cobbled streets and more than a few winding stone staircases to test those newly acquired Valkyrie legs. ⚔️
We’ll explore together and grab a coffee before the weekend officially comes to an end.
Then, stay a little longer for lunch, fish & chips, cake or ice cream, wander the shops and marina, or simply head home whenever you’re ready.
One last adventure together before the final page turns ❤️

Your inclusive price for A Court Beyond the Mountains depends on the accommodation you choose and the number of people you share it with. All activities, experiences and included food are the same for every guest – the only difference in price is where you choose to stay.

FAQ's
Can I come on my own?
Absolutely! We expect plenty of guests to join us solo, and the whole weekend has been designed around meeting people, sharing experiences and finding your bookish inner circle.
We’ve also tried to make coming alone as affordable as possible, with private solo stays available in our Romantasy Tipi Village, so you can have your own space without paying the usual single-occupancy supplement while sharing space with other fellow book lovers!
Don;t be afraid to come on your own, you won’t be on your own for long. 💙💜
Can I come with a friend or group?
Of course! Our stays cater for solo guests, pairs and small groups, so you can bring your book bestie or gather your own little Inner Circle with some accommodations sleeping up to 4.
One person will book the experience for the whole party. At the point of booking, you’ll select the number of guests attending and accommodation and the price shown will be the total price for your whole group. The person making the booking will pay the deposit or full balance and become the lead guest for the booking and our main point of contact.
You can then sort out splitting the cost between yourselves.
What's included in the price?
Your price includes two nights’ accommodation, the full weekend programme, all activity instructors and materials, Friday evening pizza, Saturday evening BBQ, plus coffee, cake and refreshments during The Inner Circle.
Your inclusive price varies only according to the accommodation you choose and the number of people sharing with you. Everyone attending gets the same experience.
Do I need to have read the ACOTAR series?
Not at all. The weekend is ACOTAR-inspired and there will definitely be plenty for fans to recognise, but you don’t need to have read every book – or even ACOTAR at all. If you love fantasy, Romantasy and spending time with fellow book lovers, you’ll fit right in. But be warned….there is a good chance of spoilers! You have got plenty of time between now and then to catch up :)
Do I need to be fit or have experience for the activities?
No previous experience is needed. Our activities are designed to be fun and accessible, and you can take part at your own pace. This is a Romantasy weekend, not an Illyrian boot camp!
Where possible, activities can be adapted to different abilities. For example, yoga can be adapted or done seated, or you can choose to sit an activity out and spend a little more time doing something you enjoy.
Please be aware that while we can be flexible with the activities, the site itself is not fully wheelchair accessible. Erw Glas is a rural camping and glamping site with gravel and uneven ground, and there is some walking between the main event area, accommodation and facilities. Our toilet and shower facilities have wider doors and grab rails, but they are not fully wheelchair accessible.
If you have limited mobility or any accessibility requirements and aren’t sure whether the weekend will be suitable for you, please get in touch with us before booking. We’re very happy to talk through the site, accommodation and activities with you so you can decide whether it will work for your individual needs.
What food is included and what about dietary requirements?
Friday evening pizza and Saturday evening BBQ are included, along with coffee, cake and refreshments during The Inner Circle. Breakfasts, lunches and additional drinks are not included.
Before the weekend, we’ll send you our food menus so you can choose your meal options and let us know about any dietary requirements or food allergies. This gives us time to discuss any specific requirements with you before you arrive.
Fresh coffee, drinks and additional food options will also be available to purchase on site.
Can I pay a deposit?
Yes. You’ll be able to choose between paying for your weekend in full or securing your booking with a deposit. The remaining balance will be due before the retreat.
What time does the weekend start and finish?
Arrival is from 2pm on Friday 25 June, with our welcome beginning at 5.30pm. The planned weekend activities finish on Sunday, with time to explore Conwy before heading home.
What happens if the weather is bad?
We’re in North Wales, so a little Welsh weather is always possible! Activities will go ahead wherever it is safe and practical to do so, with plans adapted where necessary.
Can I bring my dog?
Although we normally love welcoming four-legged guests to Erw Glas, this particular weekend is dog-free due to the nature of the activities and full weekend programme. Please leave your furry Inner Circle members at home for this adventure.
Is there an age limit?
A Court Beyond the Mountains is designed as an 18+ weekend. The books that inspire the weekend contain mature themes, and some of our book discussions, games and conversations may naturally cover more grown-up topics.
If you have an older teenager who has read the books and you feel would be comfortable with the themes and atmosphere of the weekend, please get in touch with us before booking and we can have a chat.
What happens if I need to cancel?
We understand that sometimes plans change. If you need to cancel, please let us know as soon as possible.
Cancellation charges depend on how close to the weekend you cancel, and where possible we’ll try to resell your booking to minimise any cancellation costs. You may also be able to transfer your complete booking to another guest on a like-for-like basis.
